The FOX test is a preliminary assessment used to determine if a patient is a good candidate for Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). During the test, a small number of grafts are extracted and examined for quality.

Some patients have hair follicles that are fragile and prone to transection (breakage during extraction), which reduces transplant success. If the FOX test results indicate a high rate of intact follicular units, the patient is deemed suitable for FUE. If not, alternative procedures such as FUT may be recommended. This test helps ensure that FUE provides the best possible outcome for each patient.
