Artificial hair implantation is a non-surgical procedure where biocompatible synthetic fibers are inserted into the scalp to create the appearance of natural hair. Unlike traditional hair transplants that use the patient’s own follicles, artificial hair fibers do not grow and require ongoing maintenance.
The procedure is often marketed to individuals who are not ideal candidates for traditional hair transplants due to severe hair loss or insufficient donor hair. While it can provide an immediate improvement in appearance, there are significant risks, including infections, allergic reactions, and scalp inflammation. Artificial hair fibers also degrade over time, necessitating periodic replacements.
Due to these potential complications, artificial hair implantation is banned or strictly regulated in many countries. Most hair restoration experts recommend alternative solutions, such as scalp micropigmentation or traditional transplants, over artificial implants for a safer and more permanent solution.
